I developed this app after being inspired by so many stunning, ambitious and talented Muslim women and young girls that I know and have discovered via the internet. I felt like there should be a place just for us, where we can call our own and all stay connected and see what each other has going on and also meet other Muslim women from other parts of the world. I wanted to create a virtual hub, sisterhood and networking sanctuary for like-minded women that share a common lifestyle and that can identify with each other on a spiritual and business level. I feel like Muslim women and girls need a personal virtual space where they can meet, network, stay connected and see other women like themselves doing amazing ground breaking things. Growing up in North Carolina as a Muslim girl in the 90s, I recall rarely seeing Muslim women and girls in movies, commercials, on television and magazine covers, etc. Muslim women are everywhere like air! We’ve been here since the beginning of time. Over the past several years with the help of social media and a rapidly growing Islamic community, we have become more visible. We are claiming our territories and wearing our crowns in all industries, including sports like American fencer and Olympic bronze medalist Ibtihaj Muhammad, in music like Malaysian singer Yuna, in politics like Somali-American US House of Representatives member Ilhan Omar, and in the fashion industry like Somali-American model Halima Aden. We are breaking barriers, changing the face of music, fashion, politics and sports even in our hijabs. Each month Muslimah Magic will feature and highlight a new M.O.M or “Muslimah of the Month”. Some of them you may already know but many of them are unheard of. Discover new Muslim female artists, designers, politicians, athletes, humanitarians, inventors, models, health care professionals, entrepreneurs and businesses owned by Muslim women worldwide. Get to know them, celebrate them, support them and dive deep into their magic!
